The Zone

After school and holiday support

The Zone is our program of centre-based activities for kids and teens aged 6-17. The popular program allows them to spend time with their peers during the school term and in the holidays, enjoying activities matched to their needs and interests.

DURING SCHOOL TERM – The Zone operates from 2pm till 5.30pm at 41-47 Morton Street, Port Macquarie. The program is currently running 2 days a week, with most activities being community based.

DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS – The Zone runs daily from 9am till 4pm, with times depending on the activity.

The Zone gives carers and family members a break from their caring role knowing their loved one is in a stimulating and safe environment, and supported by experienced staff.

The Zone activities take place in our centres as well as in the community and are:

    • Tailored to the age and individual needs of clients.

    • Offer new experiences and stimulating social interaction.

The school holiday program is released just before the start of the holidays.

The Zone is great for everyone: Young people have fun with friends, while carers enjoy a much-needed break from their 24/7 role.

  • Trained staff and support workers

The Zone activities are supported by fully qualified staff and support workers who are committed to person-centred care in supporting individual client needs. We will always try to meet your requests: Please discuss any special requirements with your support person.

  • Support from dedicated volunteers

Volunteers are a very important part of our service. Each one is formally vetted and trained to support your program.

Would you like to volunteer? We’d love to hear from you.

Please contact our Manager of Disability Services, Ms Joanne Redfern on 6584 1153.

  • Cost contribution

For families without respite funding, we charge a $5 service fee per day for both after-school and school holiday program activities.

In addition, clients may be asked to meet the cost of certain community activities and outings. You will be advised of the cost as part of the planning.

No-one will be excluded from activities because they are unable to pay the full amount. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact our Disability Services Manager,  Joanne Redfern on 6584 1153 to discuss what we can do to support you.

  • Funding support from the government and the community

We are funded though State Government agencies and programs. Clients normally will be required to meet certain government requirements to attend our program.

Please contact our Intake Coordinator on 02 6584 1153 for more information.

We actively seek grants and funding and make provision for individuals, community groups and businesses to support additional services and activities for our clients to enjoy.
